Red Tail Reborn (DVD)
Amidst the racial naysayers during WWII, the first African-American fighter pilots were commissioned in 1941 to help defend the distressed bombers in the European theater. Under the watch of these pilots, few to no bombers were lost to enemy fighters. These forgotten pilots are known as the Tuskegee Airmen.
The ambition to make these heroes a household name is the primary objective of The Red Tail Project, a group of men and women who honored the Airmen by touring air shows with a restored P-51C Mustang, the infamous roaring fighter plane these men flew in combat. Like the men they tribute, the Red Tail Project encountered adversity when their flying homage to the Airmen, the Mustang, crashed in 2004, killing pilot Don Hinz, who was also the project leader.
Red Tail Reborn, narrated by actor Michael Dorn (Star Trek: TNG, Star Trek: DS9), is a tale of inspiration. Historic interviews, unprecedented access, and emotional honesty bring to light the tale of the Airmen, and of those who honor them. The Tuskegee Airmen showed the world what hope, determination and hard work could do. Find out how these lessons are applied to a project recovering from a lost aircraft and a lost friend.
Red Tail Reborn is an outstanding documentary by filmmaker Adam White (The Restorers). Runtime: 54 minutes. NTSC format.

Silent Wings (DVD) The American Glider Pilots of WWII
From the early race to build gliders to the D-Day invasion at Normandy and Nazi Germany's final surrender, "Silent Wings - The American Glider Pilots of WWII" reveals the critical role gliders played in World War II offensives. Through rare archival footage and photographs, the film places the audience right at the center of the action in the dangerous world of the American glider pilot.
During WWII, 6000 young Americans volunteered to fly large unarmed cargo gliders into battle. For these glider pilots every mission was do-or-die. With little more than a stopwatch to navigate, it was their task to repeatedly risk their lives landing the men and tools of war deep within enemy-held territory, often in complete darkness. Thousands of lives were saved and battles won because of their efforts.
Narrated by Hal Holbrook, this outstanding documentary also features Andy Rooney and Walter Cronkite, who recounts his own experience of flying in a glider in WWII. Special Features: virtual walkthrough tour of the Silent Wings Museum in Lubbock TX, interview with Robert Child (writer, producer & director of Silent Wings), trailers.
Run Time: 113 Minutes. Stereo. Color/B&W. Subtitled, Closed-Captioned. Widescreen. NTSC Format (All Regions).
