The US Navy has released their new Surface Warfare Officers Jacket (SWO Jacket). US Wings is a co-supplier of this SWO Jacket. The new Surface Warfare Officers Jacket is similar to the US Navy G1 with the exception it does not have a mouton collar but instead has a leather collar. Also known as a G-2. It adds a wind-flap with “USN” perforated on it. Made in the USA.

Just received my SWO jacket. It is a great jacket and very high quality. It is 100% as issued by USN right down to the fake buttons and Velcro on the patch pockets….problem is that the website describes the jacket as having “button-thru patch pockets” and the photo shows a button with buttonhole. This jacket did not have that. Disappointing.

i’ve accrued many new and used military and jackets over the years from actual contract issue to top level replica. not only is this a contracted military issue jacket, it’s a very cool take on the many G-1s i’ve had over the years…except without the mouton.
i always thought the mouton collar was great, but being in L.A., Calif, limited some of the wear. also, once i started wearing my jackets with the collar up, i thought why not get a non-fur collar version of the G-1, which would be either a WW2 ANJ replica, or this official contract issue SWO jacket.
the construction is as good or better than any high-priced replica or actual issue G-1 i’ve ever purchased. plus it fits great and looks great with the collar flipped up as i love wearing it. and surprisingly just a bit cooler than wearing a fur collar, making it more versatile if no less great looking.
by the solid construction it’s clear to last at least one lifetime if taken care of. and we all know these get better looking the older and more worn they are. if you’re looking for a G-1 with a non-fur, especially one with an official mil contract label, including the USN perforations, this has to be the one.
